Impact of ICT on student achievement survey

The purpose of the survey is to gain evidence to determine whether developments in e-learning, using digital information in school library teaching programs are increasing the positive impact on student achievement. Dennis Granlund from the Catholic Education Office in Canberra, Australia is hosting the survey and is encouraging school library personnel from around the world to participate in the survey. Edublog awards for 2007 - vote now

A colleague and IASL member, Judy O’Connell, has alerted me to the annual international Edublog Awards.

Message from Judy - “Take a close look at each of the blog categories, and find some good reads to inspire your professional learning in 2008…..I have been very honoured to find my blog Heyjude shortlisted for the category Best Library/Librarian blog. Check all the blogs nominated for this category and maybe cast a vote for the only IASL teacher librarian to make the list! (blush).”

Voting in all categories closes on December 6. However, the full shortlisted groups will remain as a handy reference in the future.

Judy, thanks for the information and we wish you well - hope lots of IASL folk vote for your blog :-)

Standards of excellence

Standards of excellence, whether the standards relate to the professionalism of a school librarian or to the attributes of a learner, need to be promoted to a wider audience than just school librarians, teacher librarians, library media specialists, librarians.

Some examples for you to consider - Standards of professional excellence for teacher librarians (ASLA/ALIA) that focus on the professionalism of a school librarian. Standards for the 21st-Century Learner (AASL) that focuses on teaching and learning.

These standards have been developed by the national professional associations in Australia and America. If you have standards at your national level please make comment so we have the opportunity to gather appropriate resource material.
